Welcome to a small-town Emergency Room in rural Ohio. While it's true our ER doesn't see the stabbing and gunshot action ERs see in inner cities, we have no shortage of the sad, the scary, the painful, and the just plain dumb.
With more than 20 stories, things ER workers want to say to patients, and Emergency Room bingo, A Double Dose of Dilaudid will take you on a joyride to the funnier side of the ER. See what a bored husband did to get out of a date night with his wife, find out what happens when you try to make your own meth, and hear about items men and women have inserted in their bodies.

This is a series of books about a small town ER in Ohio. Its not told from the usual perspective of the brave and caring doctor and the compassionate nurse with a heart of gold. Nope, this book is told by the registration lady. You know the lady who wants your personal information and insurance number. And yes the whole series (and she seems to turn them out on a lathe) are total jewels, especially if you find stupid and rude people amusing. There are the sweet and sad stories too but stupid and rude predominate (and we are not talking Bellevue here we are talking small town ER). They read quick which is good as she is a prodigious and good writer and the crazy that goes on there is most amusing. Strongly recommend for those who love idiots and self absorbed people.Product details

A Double Dose of Dilaudid Real Stories from a SmallTown ER (Audible Audio Edition) Kerry Hamm Donna Postel Tantor Audio Books Reviews
Another great book from author Kerry Hamm. I would and have read all of her books.
Kerry Hamm has just become one of my favorite author's! Every book from this author so far have been amazing. Her books are super fast reads, very well written and hard to put down. I highly recommend this book or any books by this author to anyone who is in the medical field or to anyone who enjoys real life medical drama.
Ms. Hamm is an interesting writer. She tells stories of medical emergencies and non-emergencies in a very interesting way. She holds your attention, and leaves the reader ready for her next book. I recommend all her books.
I found most of the stories entertaining and funny! I wanted the stories to be more "fleshed out" so to speak and then I remembered this was not written be someone who would see what went one in the back, but as a receptionist! Would definitely read more by this author!
Easy and fast read. So many crazy ER stories makes one wonder why anyone would ever want to work there. Very interesting reading to see just what people in emergency healthcare have to deal with!
After working in the medical field myself for many years, it's nice to hear the truth behind the scene's being told! I think every human would respect others if they would work just six months at a hospital or just one Christmas season at a Wal Mart 👍
I found this book to be very realistic and.,unfortunately, true to life. As an RN with over 40 years of experience, including some in the ER, this book brought back memories of similar experiences. The front desk clerks see it all firsthand and are very skilled at initial triage and preparing the nursing and medical staff for whatever is coming their way. This author presented her experiences vividly and honestly as only she could do so. I look forward to reading the rest of her books.
